Unmanned boat powered by solar radiation energy
Manager: dr inż. Krzysztof Sornek
Possible forms of commercialization: spin-off company, sale, licence
The essence of the solution is to respond to market demand for a product that, when used on inland or offshore waters, will enable work requiring partial or complete autonomy of operation, prolonged stay on the water and fast movement. The unmanned boat, powered by solar energy and based on a number of proprietary solutions (including hull, deck, boat operation management system), will find application for measuring environmental parameters of water and air, depth control, inspection of the technical condition of technical facilities, inspection of beaches (for anti-sinking), etc. The boat will be characterized by small dimensions (50×80 cm) and low weight (up to 15 kg), making it possible to operate in various places (including hard-to-reach places), as well as to reach high speeds with relatively low electricity consumption. The small size and weight will also facilitate land transportation. Thanks to the use of photovoltaic modules, the boat will be able to operate continuously in favorable weather conditions, and thanks to the use of special sensors and advanced control systems based on cameras and GPS navigation, the boat will be able to be controlled remotely by an operator or operate in autonomous mode. The use of solar energy will make it possible to charge the batteries, and the stored electricity will be able to be used during cloudy weather and at night. Information on the status of the boat and its location will be transmitted to the server via radio. In the same way, commands regarding the route and tasks to be performed by the boat will also be sent aboard the craft. The boat will be made of eco-friendly materials (composite materials with linen), which will reduce the carbon footprint accompanying the manufacture of the product. The boat's design is the result of the work of the AGH Solar Boat Team, which created a racing boat equipped with many proprietary solutions. Selected solutions were transferred to the submitted product. In addition, a patent application covering the design of the boat's hull has been filed.
