Current methods of obtaining pure mixoxanthophylls from cyanobacteria cells are characterized by a multistage procedure and usually require a combination of two or more division techniques, precipitation and / or chromatography. It contributes to increasing both time and cost. The developed method makes it possible to obtain high purity mixoxanthophylls preparations from dye extracts from Spirulina cells or other species of cyanobacteria, independently of the extraction technique used. Therefore, it is less cost and time-consuming. Moreover, there is currently no access to high-quality mixoxanthophylls on the market.
